Johannes Winther, McLeod, Dies at Breck Hospital
Well Known Former Galchutt Resident Is Buried Thursday
Johannes Winther, 51, McLeod, died Monday morning at the St. Francis hospital in Breckenridge from a lingering illness. He was born in Lofoten, Norway, on May 22 1889, coming to the United States when about 16 years of age. He came directly to Fergus Falls where he attended school. On June 29, 1912, he married Maria Johnson of Galchutt, where he farmed for 25 years, two years ago moving to McLeod, where he resided until his death.
He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter, Judith and Aksel, at home and Melvin, at Everett, Wash. Also surviving are three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. A. Snobeck of Fergus Falls, two sisters in Norway, and Aksel and Paul Winther, in Washington.
Ray Krismin officiated at funeral services at the Vertin chapel, Wahpeton, Thursday afternoon. The pallbearers were Levi Pederson, Herman Versdahl, Harry Huseth, Olaf Johnson, Andrew Slotten and Martin Mark.
