Obituary
Mrs. Witt, 76, Dies Tuesday, Rites Saturday
Mrs. Wilhelm (Minnie Henrietta) Witt, 76, long time resident of this community and member of a prominent Richland county family, died Tuesday night at the St. Mary hospital here where she had been in failing health for several years.
Funeral service has been set for Saturday at 2:30 from the Immanuel Lutheran church of which she was an active member. Rev. Henry Fry will officiate. Service will be held from the Vertin Funeral Chapel here at two o’clock. The body will lie in state at the local chapel Friday and until time of the funeral Saturday.
Six grandsons will act as pallbearers. They are Ignatius and Leo Meyer, Ed Stroba, Richard Cocke, Robert Mieke and Melvin Simdorn.
She was born September 12, 1875 in Mayville, Wisc., where she spent her early youth. When a young girl she came with her parents to Mantador. She was confirmed in the Belford church in the Lutheran faith.
Oct. 6, 1896 she married Wilhelm Witt and the couple farmed in Barney township until 1925 when they retired and moved to Wahpeton. Mr. Witt died Feb 11, 1937.
She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church of Wahpeton and Ladies Aid. She had been active in church work all of her life.
For the past few years she had made her home with a daughter, Mrs. William (Lydia) Lundgren at 321 11th St. So in Wahpeton.
Other survivors include another daughter Mrs. Gust (Alma) Simdorn of Hankinson; a sisters, Mrs. Bertha Steinwehr of Wahpeton, Mrs. Frank Schroeder of St. Paul, Mrs. Ferd Becker of California, and Mrs. Art Brosowske of Barney; 12 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. Three sisters, two brothers and her parents preceded her in death.
