Obituary
Jotham Woolsey-1911
Jotham Woolsey was born in Delaware county , N. Y., June 2, 1835. At the age of 11 emigrated with his parents to North Eastern Indiana, then a wildness. He was married in 1860 to Miss Salvina M. Hemstreet, who survives him.
There was born to this union six children, four boys and two girls all of whom except the youngest girl survive him. He was converted to the christian religion in 1872 and remained in the faith until his death.
He came to Dakota in 1885 entered a homestead near Staubvell, Sargent county, being a pioneer in Dakota as well as Indiana. From the homestead he moved to Wahpeton in 1897 and lived here until five years ago when he moved to Hankinson where he died May 17th, 1911.
The body was brought to Wahpeton and laid to its final rest in the family lot in Fairview Cemetery. He never used tobacco or liquor and was an honorary member of the W. C. T. U.
