Obituary
Ervin Weishaar, age 94, of Wahpeton, ND, went to be with the Lord on April 6, 2024. A private family service will be held in the coming days.
Ervin was born May 9, 1929, to John and Elizabeth (Ackerman) Weishaar. Ervin grew up south of Benedict and married Ella Kohler on November 11, 1951.
Ervin started his career in the grocery store business at a young age in the Minot area. In 1965 they moved to Eureka, SD, and purchased a grocery store. They sold the store in 1971 and relocated to Pierre, SD to manage a store for the Super Value Chain. In 1973 they moved to Wahpeton, ND to manage another store for the same chain. He managed in the Wahpeton area for many years and retired as store manager. He continued to work part-time well into his 80’s. He loved working in the grocery business and always had a pocket full of candy for any young shoppers that would come in.
Surviving family includes a daughter, Bonnie (Neil) Schroeder; a son, Alan (Cynthia) Weishaar; grandchildren, Adam Schroeder, Alex (Stephanie) Schroeder, Alicia (Kyle) Odens and Andrea (Nathan) Thompson; great-grandchildren, Aubrey and Isaac Odens, Liam and Analeigh Thompson; sister, Esther Vitko, sister-in-law, Alice Weishaar and many nieces, nephews and loving family members.
Ervin was preceded in death by his parents, wife Ella, six brothers, three sisters, four brothers-in-law, and five sisters-in-law.
