Obituary

Fay Ilene Woy, 79, of Wahpeton, North Dakota, passed away Saturday, January 6, 2024, at St. Catherine’s Living Center in Wahpeton. Her memorial service is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday, January 14, 2023, at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home in Wahpeton, ND. There will be a visitation one hour prior. Burial will be at a later date. Pastor Kori Lehrkamp will officiate.

Fay Ilene Woy, also known as Aunt Fay, was born on January 31, 1944, in Wahpeton, ND, to Lloyde Keech and Elsie (Keeney) Keech. Fay married the love of her life, Marshall Woy, on March 16, 1968. Fay was a fiercely independent woman who was always there for whomever needed her. Her loving personality and willingness to help others earned her the nickname of "Aunt Fay". She had a lot of what her loved ones called "Fayism's".

Fay was a dedicated housekeeper at St. Catherine’s Living Center for 19 years. She took pride in her work and was known for her attention to detail and caring nature. Prior to her career, Fay served in the Navy for two years, demonstrating her commitment to serving her country.

In her free time, Fay enjoyed crocheting, and was an active member of the Eagles Auxiliary, American Legion Auxiliary, Joy Circle, and volunteered at St. Catherine’s. She also served as a bell ringer for the Salvation Army, spreading joy and compassion to those in need.

Fay leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness. She is survived by her sister, Frances Stewart (Bill), and her brother Gerry Keech (Rita), along with many nieces and nephews and many great nieces and nephews.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, Marshall Woy; her sister, Kay (Keech) Thomson; her nephew, Kane Thomson; and her brother, Delos Keech.

Contributions in her memory can be made to the Leach Home or Benedictine Living Community, both of which causes were close to her heart.

Fay will be fondly remembered by all who knew her for her generosity, independence, and unwavering support. Her presence will be deeply missed, and her memory will forever be cherished by her loved ones.
