Funeral For Mrs. Fred Zarske Held Here Saturday

Former Wahpeton Resident Passes Away on December Eighth.

Funeral Services were conducted for Mrs. Fred Zarske, former Wahpeton lady and resident of Breckenridge at the time of her death at 2:30 Saturday with Reverend R. J Becker from the German Lutheran church officiating. Mrs. Zarske passed away at 11:10, December 8. Pallbearers were Ernest Kuehn, Carl Kuehn, Richard Kuehn, John Zachow, Frank Mibolte and C. Mibolte.

Marie Pockrandt was born in Berwaldi, Province of Brandenberg, Germany, on September 22, 1873 and came to America at the age of 17 years. She stayed for a year with relatives at Baltimore, Md, and then came west to Renville, Minn., to make her home. On September 10, 1893 she was united in marriage to Fred Zarske.

To this union, eight children were born: John, deceased; Herman, deceased; Albert, Breckenridge; Fred, Chicago; Otto, Milwaukee; Mrs. George Holbach, Milwaukee; Marie and Gertrude, Breckenridge. From Renville, Minn., the family moved to Wisconsin and, in 1901 came to Wahpeton and later, moved to Breckenridge. They have since made their home there.

In July she became ill and it became necessary to have her leg amputated to save her life. She seemed to be getting along splendidly until three weeks ago when she became seriously ill, passing away on December eighth. Surviving relatives are her husband, Fred Zarske, her mother, Mrs. Herman Pockrandt and sisters, Louise Pockrandt of Renville, Minn., Mrs. Gust Schmitt, Alta Vista, Iowa and three sons, Albert, Fred and Otto and three daughters, Mrs. George Holbach and Gertrude and Marie Zarske.
