Funeral Services For John Zentgraf To Be On Friday

Former Summit Pioneer Passed Away at Local Hospital Tuesday Morning

Funeral services for John Zentraf, one of Richland county’s best known pioneers, will be conducted Friday afternoon at the Herman McChesney home at 1:30 p.m. and from the Immanuel Lutheran church at two o’clock. Reverend R. J. Becker will officiate. Interment will be in Fairview cemetery.

Mr. Zentgraf who has been ill for the past ten weeks at the Herman McChesney home was taken to the hospital six days ago. He passed away Tuesday morning. He was born November 7, 76 years ago in Germany and came to Wisconsin when a boy sixteen years old. Later he came to Summitt township to homestead 56 years ago. He lived on the farm until 17 years ago when he came to Wahpeton to make his home. For the past two years he has been making his home with Herman McChesney.

He was married to Wilhemena Stoltenow 2 years ago at Great Bend. Mrs. Zentgraf passed away in October four years ago. He is survived by seven children: Mrs. Dick Buck, Mary of Wahpeton, Joseph Zentgraf of Gull Lake, Saskatchwean, Canada, Mrs. Fred Buck, Martha, of Gull Lake, John of Gull Lake, Adolph of Fairmount, Robert of Larimore and a daughter Mrs. Herman McChesney, Carolina, passed away two years ago. There are 31 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be John Buck, Rudolph Buck, Theodore Buck, Urban Zentgraf, Earl Zentgraf and Lloyd Zentgraf. Honorary pallbearers will be August Matt, Henry Holthusen, William Gelle, Charles Mohs, Gus Raguse and Louis Matz.
