Lars Raftevold
WAHPETON - Lars O. Raftevold, 94, of Wahpeton died Thursday in St. Francis Hospital. The funeral will be in Bethel Lutheran Church at a time to be set. Vertin's-Wahpeton Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Raftevold was born May 22, 1877, at Horningdal, Norway, the son of Andrew and Bert (Krogen) Raftevold. He was educated there and served in the Norwegian Army for three years. He came to Tintah, Minn., in 1925 where he married Bergit Olson. They lived in Wahpeton where he was employed in the Great Northern Railroad yards. Mrs. Raftevold died April 1922. In 1936, he married Anna Rossum and they lived in Wahpeton and he was later employed by the Wahpeton Park Board. She died Feb. 17, 1970.
He is survived by three sons and a daughter, Andrew, Olaf and Glenn Raftevold and Mrs. Ralph (Lillian) Hoffman, all of Wahpeton; one step-son, Jerry Rossum of Moorhead; 18 grandchildren and 33 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives; four brothers and two sisters; and two step-sons, Clifford and Bernie Rossum.
