W. H. Rapp Dies At Lidgerwood
Funeral Here on Tuesday for Pioneer
William Henry Rapp, pioneer citizen, died at the home of his son at Lidgerwood Saturday and funeral services were conducted from Schmitt & Olson chapel in Wahpeton Tuesday morning with Rev. F. W. Hill, Breckenridge, officiating. Eight grandsons acted as pallbearers and interment was in Fairview cemetery.
A real pioneer that went through all the hardships of early times, Mr. and Mrs. Rapp homesteaded in McPherson county, S. D. He was born in Baraboo, Wis., Dec 15, 1852, and married July 28 1831, to Elizabeth Dpstert, who preceded him in death. They lived at Forbes N.D. for a time and upon Mrs. Rapp’s death, he moved to Breckenridge to live with a daughter, Mrs. Clifford Rogers. Becoming totally blind, he went to live with a son, J. O. Rapp, at Lidgerwood, where he died from complications of old age.
He is survived by two sons, J. O. Rapp of Lidgerwood and W. C. Rapp of Forbes; and seven daughters, Mrs. Olaf Olson and Mrs. Clifford Rogers of Breckenridge, Mrs. Carl Olson Mrs. C. P. Noyes and Mrs. Jos. Conlon; of Wahpeton; Mrs. Charles Gallagher of Moorhead and Mrs. John S. Nord of Glasgow, Mont; also 23 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren; also a large number of friends.
