H. G. Rasmussen Funeral Thursday From Local Church
Resident of Richland County for Past Fifty Years Dies at Local Hospital Tuesday
Served on City Council for Two Terms
Was Past Noble Grand of Local I.O.O.F. and Trustee of Congregational Church Funeral services are being conducted this (Thursday) afternoon at 2:30 from the Congregational Church for H. G. Rasmussen, a resident of Wahpeton for the past 43 years. Mr. Rasmussen died Tuesday, June 25 at the Wahpeton hospital after a brief illness. Services are being conducted by Rev. J. H. Caskey and the Odd Fellow lodge, jointly.
H. G. Rasmussen was born on January 2, 1863 at Red Wing, Minn., and came to Dwight from there fifty years ago. He moved from Dwight to Wahpeton seen years later. He was one of the city’s early pioneers, having engaged in business here for twenty-seven years.
Mr. Rasmussen was a member of the First Congregational church of Wahpeton and served on its Board of Trustees for a number of years. He served on the Wahpeton City council for two terms and was a member of the Wahpeton I. O. O. F. Lodge. During his membership he filled all of the chairs, being a Past Noble Grand of the order. He belonged to the Odd Fellows for the past 40 years. Mr. Rasmussen was married to Bessie Bryan Rasmussen on December 16, 1890. He is survived by his wife and three children: Mrs. H. T. Warren of Gary, Ind., D. B. Rasmussen, Marshalltown, Iowa, and J. H. Rasmussen of Chicago, Ill., all of whom have come to Wahpeton for the funeral service.
The service will be held at the First Congregational Church on June 27 at 2:30 o’clock and will be preceded by a short service at the residence on North 5th Street. It will be conducted by the Odd Fellow Loge with Rev. Caskey officiating.
