Funeral Is Held For John Reinke Tuesday P.M.
Well Known Wahpeton Man Dies Sunday Morning at Home Here
John Reinke, son of Michael and Rosa Reinke of Bramberg, Pohen, Germany, was laid in his final resting place Wed. He passed away after a lengthy illness, the last ten weeks of his life being spent in bed. Everything that loving hands and medical science could do was done to ease his suffering but at 3:45 Sunday morning he went to his reward
Funeral services were Wednesday afternoon from the Immanuel Lutheran church with Rev. R. J. Becker officiating. Interment was made in the Fairview Cemetery with Henry Holthusen, John Dietz, Frank Cax, Killian Altzheimer, John Keating and Albert Hellwege acting as pallbearers. Dr. Bateman sang a beautiful solo, “I Will Know When I Meet Him,” at the home and a quartet composed of Alvin Meyer, George Holthusen, Albert Ponath and A. W. Schwarzrock sang, “One Sweetly Solemn Thought” during the church services.
Those who survive him are his widow, four children, Mrs. D. C. Deede of Wahpeton, N.D., Leone Miller of Zumbrota, Minn., Lewis Reinke of St. Paul, Minn, and Mrs Henry Coffey of Minneapolis, Minn., and four grandchildren, Novelia, Marvin, Robert Earl Deede and Marlene Coffey. One son-in-law, John E. Miller preceded him in death seven months ago.
The honor and esteem in which Mr. Reinke was held by his friends and neighbors was expressed with many large and beautiful bouquets of flowers. Memorial wreaths were given by grandchildren and relatives for Home Missions and permanent support fund.
Out of town people attending the services were: Mr. and Mrs. Lars Olsgard, Wyndmere, N.D.; Mr. and Mrs. John Larsen, Moorhead, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. John Hespenheide, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hespenheide, George Hespenheide, Mr. and Mrs. John Woestenhoff, Mr. and Mrs. John Shmidt, Frank Diers and Fred Muelenhardt, all of Belle Plaine, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Ewalt Betcher, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Betcher and Charles Betcher.
John Reinke Passes Away on Sunday
Retired Farmer Came to Wahpeton Vicinity To Make Home in 1892
John Reinke, a retired farmer making his home in Wahpeton passed away Sunday morning at his residence on north 3rd st. He came to Wahpeton vicinity to farm in 1892 buying the Mike Meyer farm seven miles southwest of Wahpeton, now farmed by D. C. Deede.
Funeral services are to be held from the home at 1:30 and 2 o’clock from the Immanuel Lutheran church Wednesday, Rev. R. J. Becker officiating.
He was born in Bromberg, Posen Germany, March 28, 1866, coming to America when seventeen years of age. He lived in St. Paul for a year, later moving to Belle Plaine. He was married February 11, 1892 to Emma Hespendeid, who survives him. Children who survive are: Mrs. D. C. Deede, Wahpeton, Mrs. Leona Miller, Zumbrota, Minn.; Louis Reinke, St. Paul, and Mrs. Henry Coffey, Minneapolis.
