Obituary
Charles Richards-1920
DEATH OF CHARLEY RICHARDS Charles L. Richards, for seven years clerk at the City hotel Wahpeton, died at the Wahpeton hospital Monday morning, from an incurable malady called endocarditis, complicated with pneumonia. Charley, as his host of friends over the county called him, had been ill for some time, and last fall was compelled to give up his work and take a long rest. After visiting friends in South Dakota for some time, he returned to Wahpeton this winter for medical treatment. He made his home with Eli Oliver and family since his recent return to the city, and until his admission to the hospital. No one knows anything of his past history. His birthplace is unknown. He came to Wahpeton from Bismarck, it is said. He was 56 years old, a widower, and apparently had had a misunderstanding with his parents at some time in the past. He would not give any information as to their names or whereabouts, stating that they never took any interest in him while he was alive, so why bother them about his death? Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at the Methodist church, Rev. H. L Maunder conducted the services. Burial was in Fairview cemetery.
Location
