Obituary
J.A. Rickert Funeral Held in Wahpeton
J. A. Rickert, 75 well known Wahpeton man who was manager of the Farmers Credit Company since 1931 and justice of the peace for many years died on Saturday afternoon at the Wahpeton Nursing Home where he had been residing.
He had returned to his residence from downtown Wahpeton when he suffered a heart attack and died.
Funeral service was conducted Monday afternoon in Trinity Episcopal Church here with Rev Harold S. Jones officiating. Interment is to be made in the Fairview Mausoleum. Vertin Funeral Home of Wahpeton had charge of the funeral arrangements. Pallbearers were Arthur Lee, Lester Stern, Horace Lahren, Odin Wold, Norbert Morris and Wallace Morden. Honorary pallbearers were Dale McMichael, Herbert Worner, William Kretchman, Charles Deissler, Frank Lindenburg and George Fischer, born Dec 31, 1881 at Byron, Minn., the son of Jacob and Annie Rickert. He came by oxen train to Lidgerwood with his parents when he was a boy.
The family later moved to Wahpeton where he attended high school and grew to young manhood. He graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Law and practiced law in Spokane, Wash., for a year. He married Eva Lowry at Spokane, Nov. 25, 1908.
Shortly following their marriage, they moved to Tracy, Minn., where Mr. Rickert took a position as cashier at the Citizens State Bank. Later they moved to Minneapolis where he was president of Bankers Mortgage Corporation. He was also vice-president of the Federal Land Bank and vice-president and manager of Federal Intermediate Credit Bank in St. Paul for some time.
Mr. Rickert was member of the I.O.O.F. of Wahpeton, the Khurum Masonic Lodge in Minneapolis, the Scottish Rite Consistory of Minneapolis, and the Zurah Shrine Temple of Minneapolis.
He is survived by his wife who resides at St. Francis home in Breckenridge; a son, Allison of Wadena, Minn.; two granddaughters; two brothers, Millard of Wahpeton and Joseph of Priest River, Idaho; three sisters, Mrs. Sarah McMichael, Mrs. George Stull and Mrs. Ruth Schultz, all of Wahpeton.
