Funeral Services for Mrs. Rickert Held Thursday
Resident of County Since 1885 Passed Away Monday After Lengthy Illness
Mrs. Annie Elizabeth Rickert died Monday at the Breckenridge hospital following a lengthy illness. Funeral services were conducted at 2 o’clock today (Thursday) from the Episcopal church with Rev. A. L. Parcells officiating.
Annie Elizabeth Rickert was born at Byron, Olmstead county, Minnesota on July 14th, 1857. Her mother was Sarah Twentyman Bird, born in England and he father was Joseph Bird born in Novia Scotia of English parentage.
She was united in marriage to Jacob A. Rickert in 1880 and in 1884 the young couple with two infant chidren, journeyed by ox team and covered wagon from southeastern Minnesota to Emmons county in Dakota Territory. They came to Richland county in 1883, locating first on a farm near Wyndmere. They were among the first residents of Lidgerwood when the town was founded and came to Wahpeton in 1891.
Mrs. Rickert was a life-long member of the Episcopal church. Her social activities were very limited. Her entire life was centered in her home and her family upon which she bestowed a constant and untiring devotion.
She is survived by six sons and daughters, J. A. Rickert of St. Paul, Mrs. Sarah McMichael, Miss Blanche Rickert, Millard F. Rickert, Mrs. Ruth Hoffman of Wahpeton and Joseph E. Rickert of Priest River, Idaho. She was preceded in death by her husband and a daughter, Mrs. Frances Aspinwall.
