Obituary

Ralph Rossum Rites Tuesday at Bethel Church

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, Jan. 4 from the Bethel Lutheran church in Wahpeton for Ralph O. Rossum who passed away at his home here on Friday after a lingering illness. Services will be at two in the afternoon with Rev. P. A. Gisvold conducting the rites.

The body rested in state in the Jos. Vertin & Sons Funeral Home in Breckenridge from Sunday and through this Monday evening and until time of the services Tuesday afternoon.

Ralph Oscar Rossum was born March 9, 1886 at Pelican Rapids, Minn. Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Nettie Rossum of Wahpeton; one son Byron of Walcott; one daughter, Betty, Mrs. Albert Ready, Wahpeton; eight grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. Mary Baglo of Fergus Falls, Minn.

Preceding in death were his parents and four brothers.

He was born and raised at Pelican Rapids, Minn., attended school and grew to manhood in that community. He married Nettie Johnson on May 20, 1916 at the South Immanuel Lutheran Church near Pelican Rapids.

After marriage they made their home in that community for several years, moving to North Dakota in 1924. For several years he worked on the Soo Line Railroad and in 1934 they moved to a farm which they bought in Freeman Township in Richland County. They farmed there until 1952 at which time they retired from the farm and moved into Wahpeton where the home has been since.

Mr. Rossum was an active man in community affairs. For several years he was a member of his township board and also served as treasurer of the United Lutheran church board in Freeman Township.

He was a good church member was baptized and confirmed in the South Immanuel Lutheran Church near Pelican Rapids and since was active in his faith wherever they lived.

Active pallbearers will be nephews and Honorary Bearers will be relatives and friends.

Interment will be in Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton.
