Byron M. Rossum
Byron M. Rossum, 65, Wahpeton, died unexpectedly Saturday, May 19. The funeral will be at 10:30 Wednesday at Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton. Rev. M.L. Hartmann officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton.
Visitation is Tuesday afternoon and evening at Vertin's-Wahpeton East Chapel with a prayer service at 7:30. There will also be visitation at the church for the hour prior to the service.
He was born Jan. 23, 1919 at Pelican Rapids, Minn., to Ralph and Jonettie (Johnson) Rossum. He moved with his parents to Fingal, N.D., and later McLeod where he was raised and attended school. He married Ethel Ehrens Dec. 15, 1942 at Breckenridge. They farmed north of Barney and later north of Wyndmere in Freeman Township. In 1967 they moved to Wahpeton where he was employed by Northwest Sheet and Iron Works and the Milwaukee Railroad. He and his wife formed the Three Rivers Contracts Co., negotiating rights of way for Northwestern Bell. He retired recently.
He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Eagles, and Wahpeton Senior Citizens.
Survivors include his wife, a son and three daughters, Kenneth, Salt Lake City, Utah; Mrs. Carl (Diane) Glander III, rural Wahpeton; Mrs. Tom (Vivian) Bernotas and Mrs. Lynn (Coleen) Thoe, both Wahpeton; and 14 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
