Obituary

Frank A Russell-1915

F. A. Russell was born in Fair Point, Minn., forty-five years ago. Here he passed his early youth, until 17 years of age, when he went to South Dakota where he lived some five or six years. Leaving South Dakota, he came to Hankinson where he spent the next ten or twelve years. He was married in 1896 to Miss Maude McLaughlin of Hankinson. While there Mr. Russell was an active trader in livestock, especially horses, and was associated in many business deals with Theo. Albrecht of this city. He was a member of the Masonic and other orders in Hankinson. Two children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Russell in Hankinson, a son Earl, now about 18 years of age, and a daughter Pearl, now 16. Leaving Hankinson, the Russells moved to Kensal, where they made their home for about five years, during which time their second daughter Berta was born.

His wife died in California after a lingering illness and Mr. Russell came to Wahpeton with his children, and here made their home for about a year and a half. While here he devoted most of his time to dealing in live stock, and was closely associated in his business deals with Theo. Albrecht. In 1909 he moved to Underwood, as cashier of the Underwood State Bank. He was later made vice president of the same bank. Here on January1st, 1913, he was married to Miss Harriet Lane, who survives him. Mr. Russell had a great many friends in Hankinson and Wahpeton, and in fact throughout the entire state. His business deals were always fair and above board and he had an enviable reputation for fair dealing.

He is survived by his wife, three children mentioned above, and his sister, Mrs. A. G. Divet of this city. It is understood that the older daughter, Miss Pearl, who is in school in Fargo, will continue her studies there until the vacation time, when she will make her future home with the Divets in this city. Little Miss Berta Russell is now with Mrs. Russell at the home of her brother, a banker in Hecla, S. S., but will come to Wahpeton to make her home with the Divets also as soon as they return from Bismarck at the close of the legislative session. She will enter the Wahpeton schools. Mrs. Russell will make her home with her brother at Hecla for the present.
