Obituary

Mabel Rinnels, 83, of Breckenridge , MN died December 13, 2008 at St. Francis Healthcare Campus in Breckenridge.

Her funeral service will be held Thursday, December 18, 2008 at 10:30 a.m. at Breckenridge Lutheran Church , Breckenridge , MN , with Pastor Mark Manning officiating.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 17, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. at Joseph Vertin & Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge. There will also be visitation for one hour prior to the funeral at the church.

Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens , Wahpeton, ND.

Pallbearers will be Jason Rinnels, Kyle Rinnels, Kristopher Rinnels, Chad Rinnels, Travis Rinnels, and Derek McGarry. Honorary pallbearers will be Mabel’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Mabel was born November 11, 1925, in Meadows Township near Rothsay , MN , the eighth child of fifteen born to Andrew and Elizabeth (Schultz) Andel. She attended school in Everdell , MN , and then when the family moved to Nilsen Township in Wilkin County and went to country school there. When Mabel was 18 years old, she moved to Breckenridge , MN , and worked doing housework and babysitting for various people. She later worked at Uncle Jim’s Restaurant and at St. Francis Hospital .

Mabel was united in marriage to LaVern Rinnels on February 5, 1946 at Breckenridge Lutheran Church . The couple made their home on a farm near Dent, MN, where LaVern worked as a farm hand for eight years. They returned to this area and lived at Great Bend , ND before moving to Breckenridge in 1969, where Mabel has since resided. Mabel did some child care while raising her own children in Breckenridge. LaVern preceded her in death on February 9, 1998.

Mabel was a member of Breckenridge Lutheran Church , the Eagles Auxiliary and the Wahpeton VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, walking and spending time outdoors.

She is survived by: Her daughter: Renae (Robert) Swanson, Fairmount, ND; Her sons: LeRoy (Maureen) Rinnels, Wahpeton, ND, Lyle (Charlotte) Rinnels, Great Bend, ND, Norman Rinnels, Wahpeton, ND, Mike (Cheryl) Rinnels, Wahpeton, ND, Bradley Rinnels, Wahpeton, ND; 18 Grandchildren; 13 Great-grandchildren; Her sister: Josie (Bob) Miller, Breckenridge, MN; Her brother: Clarence (Mary) Andel, Inver Grove Heights, MN.

She was preceded in death by: Her parents: Andrew and Elizabeth Andel; Her husband: LaVern J. Rinnels; Her sisters: Florence Swenson, Esther Andel, Wilma Lindberg, Nellie Meyer, Catherine Beglau; Her brothers: Andrew, Frank, Fred, Gilbert, Walter, Earl, and Carl.

The Garden of Prayer is located in the Memorial Gardens, which comprises the northern half of the cemetery.
