Obituary
Herman Roeder
Services have been set for Herman Roeder, 84, Wahpeton, for 10 a.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, with Rev. Ernest Bartels officiating.
Roeder died today at St. Francis Hospital.
Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Home with a prayer service at 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the funeral service at the church Saturday.
Roeder was born May 8, 1894 at Hankinson to Frederick and Emma (Hartelben) Roeder. He was raised in Hankinson and married Erna Medenwaldt Sept. 28, 1915 at Hankinson. He farmed in Brightwood Township until 1951 when he moved to Wahpeton and was employed by the Wahpeton Street Department and Park Board for several years.
Survivors include; two daughters, Mrs. Milton (Leona) Vedder, Breckenridge, Mrs. Rueben (Delores) Medenwald, Lidgerwood, and six sons Roland and Willmar, both of Hankinson; Clifford, Breckenridge; Dewain, Fargo; Larry, Marshall, Minn. and Orville, Walla Walla, Wash.
Other survivors are one brother Edward, Breckenridge, and three sisters, Mrs. Richard (Elsie) Medenwaldt, Lidgerwood; Mrs. August (Hertha) Muehler, Hankinson and Mrs. Arthur (Louise) Arndt, Moorhead; 32 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife in 1971 and one son.
