Obituary
Mrs. H Roeder
Mrs. Herman (Erna) Roeder, 411 5th St. S., Wahpeton died early last Wednesday in St. Francis Hospital where she had been a patient for two days. Funeral services were held Friday in Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton. The Rev. Edward Rutter conducted the service and interment was in Fairview Memorial Garden at Wahpeton.
Erna Medenwaldt was born Nov. 25, 1897, in Barndenburger Township, Richland County, the daughter of William and Wilhelmina (Hoefs) Medenwaldt. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith. She attended local schools and married Herman B. Roeder Sept. 28, 1915 at rural Hankinson. The couple farmed at Hankinson in Brightwood Township until 1951 when they moved to Wahpeton. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1965.
She is survived by her husband; two daughters and six sons, Mrs. Milton (Leona) Vedder and Clifford, both of Breckenridge, Mrs. Rueber (Delores) Medenwald of Lidgerwood, Roland and Wilmar, both of Hankinson, Dewain of Fargo, Larry of Marshall, Minn., Orville of Walla Walla, Wash.
One brother and three sisters Rudolf of Alexandria, Minn., Mrs. Charles (Freida) Jasmer of Wahpeton, Mrs. Fred (Esther) Roeder and Mrs. Robert (Tillie) Hartleben, both of Hankinson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Gilbert, and a sister, Lena.
