Obituary
Louis A. Ujka
Funeral service for Louis A. Ujka Jr., 54, Wahpeton, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday from St. John's Catholic Church, Wahpeton, Rev. George Mehok celebrant. Mr. Ujka died Thursday at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge.
He was born June 14, 1918 at Breckenridge and attended St. John's School in Wahpeton and graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1936. He also graduated from the State School of Science in 1938.
Mr. Ujka was married to Treva Matz, June 9, 1941 in Wahpeton and served with the U.S. Army in Europe during World War II. He was employed as an accountant in Casselton until 1948 when he joined Dakota Motors in Wahpeton. In 1954, he began employment with I.E. Lillegard of Wahpeton as an accountant. He was presently employed at Lillegard's Inc.
Well known in Wahpeton and state golfing circles, Mr. Ujka had won the Bois de Sioux Club championship 20 times - the first time at age 17 in 1935. He also participated in several golf tournaments and the Pine to Palm at Detroit Lakes, making the finals several times.
He was a member of St. John's Church and the Wahpeton American Legion.
Surviving are his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Dwight (Sharon) Kalash, Rock Island, Ill., Mrs. Milos (Jane) Divvy, Grand Forks; one grandson; his mother, Mrs. Louis (Frederica) Ujka Sr. and sister, Mrs. Russell (Francis) Comstock, both Wahpeton.
Visitation will be Friday afternoon and evening and Saturday morning until 10:15 a.m. at Vertin's Wahpeton and a Bible Vigil at 8 p.m. in the chapel.
Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens with military rites by the Wahpeton American Legion post.
He was preceded in death by his father who died in 1958.
