Obituary
The community was shocked to learn Monday morning May 14 of the sudden death of Clyde Duane Brand, seventeen year old son of Mr. and Mrs. Jav Brand, of Mooreton township. His death is believed being due to a heart attack as he had been apparently well the previous day.
Clyde Duane Brand was born at the farm house on October 14, 1916, and lived his entire life in the home vicinity.
Funeral services were held on Thursday afternoon at 1:45 o’clock from the home where Rev. and Mrs. LaGrone sang a beautiful duet and at two o’clock from the Congregational church in Wahpeton.
Rev. LaGrone of the Methodist church preached the funeral sermon in the absence of the church pastor, Rev. Caskey.
Mrs. Howard Paul and Mrs. Harvey Rife sang three beautiful duets.
He was laid to rest in the Fairview cemetery west of Wahpeton.
Pallbearers were Elmer Smith and George Hollands and four cousins, John and Howard Brand and LeRoy and Donald Jost.
He leaves to mourn his untimely passing the father and mother, two brothers, Leslie and William, a sister, Mildred and four nephews and a niece beside a large number of other relatives and friends.
Relatives from out of town who attend the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. George Knipfel and Mrs. John Larson, of Hammond, Wis., and Mrs. Clara Rauh, of Hudson, Wis.
