Obituary
Evelyn Martha Buck was born November 24, 1915, at Hankinson, ND, to Alvin and Edna (Polfuss) Schubert. She was baptized at St. John's Belford Lutheran Church by Rev. R. Hilgendor and confirmed on March 24, 1929, at St. John's Belford Lutheran Church by Rev. Cordts. She received her formal education at Belford Rural School. She worked for the Kjelstrup family as a housekeeper/ccok and in their variety store in Hankinson.
On June 28, 1930, she married Alvin Buck in St. John's Belford Lutheran Church, rural Hankinson, ND. The couple lived in Chula Vista, CA until 1942 when they moved back to Center Township, rural Wahpeton, where they farmed until they retired in 1976. In 1977 the couple moved into Wahpeton. Her husband, Alvin, died on May 2, 1993. She continued to live in Wahpeton until August of 2006 when she moved into Twin Town Villa at Breckenridge.
Evelyn was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Wahpeton Senior Citizens. She enjoyed playing cards, embroidering, baking and enjoyed her family, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughter, Beverly McRoberts, Wahpeton; 2 sons, Roland (Joan) Buck, Medford, OR and Robert (Virginia) Buck, Wahpeton; 7 grandchildren, Kristie (Rob) Fredrickson, Brad (Roxanne) McRoberts, Kari (Scott) Koste, Jeff Buck, Bryan Buck, Blake Buck, Bradley Buck; 8 great-grandchildren, Kara and Bobby Brungardt, Michael and Abby McRoberts, Kyle, Kaitlyn and Kory Koste, and Jacob Buck; her sister, Ruth Stoltenow, Wahpeton; her sister-in-law, Norma Schubert, Hankinson; and her nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alvin; grandson, Danny Buck, Feb. 1992; son-in-law, Dwaine McRoberts, May 1995; and her brother, Elroy Schubert, May 2008.
