Herbert Garberg
The time of the Herbert Garberg funeral has been rescheduled for 3 Saturday, March 19. It had originally been scheduled for 10:30 a.m. that day. Mr. Garberg, 70, Wahpeton, died Monday, March 14 at Honolulu, Hawaii. The funeral will be at United Church of Christ (Congregational) Wahpeton, Rev. Stephen Hanning officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.
Visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday and continue until 1 p.m. at Vertin's-Wahpeton Funeral Home Chapel. There will also be visitation at the church for the hour prior to the service.
He was born March 31, 1912 at Lignite, N.D., to Andrew and Celia (Stevens) Garberg. He attended school there and then moved to Kenmare, N.D., where he graduated from high school. He was a salesman for Singer Sewing Machine Co., for many years. Later, he joined Montgomery Ward. He married Leona Tiffany in 1947. They lived in Indiana and Brainerd, Minn., moving to Wahpeton in 1964 where he was employed at Montgomery Ward. She died April 15, 1976. He married Margaret Seivert July 13, 1978 at Wahpeton. They lived at Wahpeton.
He was a member of United Church of Christ (Congregational), Wahpeton Eagles and the Golden K Club.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret, two stepsons and three stepdaughters, Donald, Everett, Wash.; Richard, Michigan; Mrs. Margaret Wee, Fargo; Mary Ann Seivert, Fergus Falls; Mrs. Luther (Diane) Schumacher, Aberdeen, S.D.; and a sister, Mrs. Florence Smith, Brainerd, Minn.
