Obituary
Viola Christina Gast was born December 13, 1916, at Rural Hankinson, Waldo Twp., ND. She grew up with her parents Ernest and Ida (Hubrig) Tischer and attended school in the Hankinson area. On May 9, 1939, she married Carl F. Gast St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Tyler, ND. They farmed in rural Fairmount until 1953, when they moved to Breckenridge, MN. Viola worked at St. Francis Hospital, Breckenridge. Carl died September 7, 1966, she continued to live in Breckenridge for several years before moving to Fargo, ND where she worked at St. Luke's and retired in 1980. She recently has resided at Bethany Homes in Fargo, and The Evergreens in Fargo and Moorhead.
She enjoyed spending time with her family; especially enjoyed watching her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren grow up.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna (Galen) Myers, Amemia, ND; 3 sisters, Mabel (Gordon) Schmitz, Casselton, ND, Verna Kensrud, Haywood, CA, Margaret (Kenneth) Nipstad, Camarillo, CA; her brother, Mark (Shirley) Tischer, Astoria, Oregon; 5 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild; brother-in-law, Marvin Fenske, Great Bend, ND; and 3 sisters-in-law, Mildred Tischer, Fargo, Joyce Tischer, Breckenridge, and Iva Tischer, Hankinson.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Carl, Sept. 7, 1966; her son, Donald; 4 brothers, Raymond, Leonard, Rueben, Dennis; and her sister, Elaine Fenske.
