Obituary
Martha Gehler
Bertha Gehler, 70, Great Bend, died Thursday, Oct. 20, at St. Francis Hospital, Breckenridge. The funeral will be Monday, Oct. 24, at 2 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, Great Bend, with the Rev. Arlan Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.
Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening at Vertin's Wahpeton Funeral Chapel with a prayer service at 8 p.m. at the chapel. There will also be visitation at the funeral chapel Monday morning and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Bertha Witt was born Aug. 30, 1913, in Brandenburg Township, rural Great Bend. She was raised in the community and attended schools in Belford Township.
She married Ewald Gehler June 14, 1934, in Belford Township. They farmed in Brandenburg Township until 1964 when they moved into Great Bend. Her husband died March 31, 1973. She continued to live in Great Bend. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include: one son, Larry Gehler, rural Hankinson; and one daughter, Mrs. John (Arlis) Parker, Faribault, Minn.; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild; one sister, Mrs. Minnie Bohn, Hankinson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, infant son, twin infant granddaughters, three brothers and two sisters.
