Obituary
Carolyn Sue Janz was born on April 4, 1941 in Fargo, ND to Walter and Frances (Gillund) Janz. She grew up in rural Enderlin, ND where she attended country school and graduated from Enderlin High School in 1959. She married Howard Frisk on December 27, 1959 and moved to rural McLeod, ND where she raised her family and was very active at Grace Lutheran Church, bowling league, softball, selling Avon and sewing. She moved to Wahpeton, ND in 1983 where she attended NDSCS. In 1984 she moved to Fargo, ND where she was house mother at the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. On January 10, 1986 she married Harvey Grinager in Riverdale, N.D. Harvey and Carolyn made their home in Wahpeton. Together they enjoyed spending summers at Ottertail Lake, MN and their winters at Viewpoint Resort in Mesa, AZ. At Viewpoint, Carolyn enjoyed spending time with friends, golfing, hiking, singing in the Viewpoint choir and she also taught quilting for 7 years. At Ottertail Lake, Carolyn spend time fishing, singing in the Amor Zion Lutheran Church choir, playing cards and going for walks with friends. In Wahpeton, Carolyn was active in Bethel Lutheran Church where she sang in the choir, was in Stephens Ministry and spent time with friends.
Carolyn lived a full life and spent endless hours providing service to the churches she attended. She will be greatly missed by her family and her plethora of friends. Her family finds comfort knowing that she is now rejoicing as a member of heaven's choir.
Carolyn is survived by her mother, Frances Janz, Enderlin, ND; her three daughters, Dawn (Brent) Fode, Sioux Falls, SD, Lori (Steve Thompson) Frisk-Thompson, Blue Earth, MN, and Jeanne (Dave) Pratt, Kollweiler, Germany, her two step-daughters, Susan (Keith) Kissel, Stillwater, MN, and Sandee (John) Erickson, Shorewood, MN; four grandchildren, Zachary and Zoe Thompson and Carrie and Kirsten Pratt; three step-grandchildren, Ashley and Matt Kissel and John Lee Erickson; her brothers, Erling (Linda Thilmony) Janz and Lyle (Claudia) Janz, both of Enderlin, ND; five nieces and nephews, Trevor (Sue) McGregor, Tasha (Tim) Twardowski, Taryn (Krist) Kjelstrup, Saree (Jeff) Reveling and Seth (Karmel) Janz; three step-nieces and nephews; and five great nieces and nephews.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her husband, Harvey, on July 6, 2005; her father, Walter Janz; her grandson, Kyle Fode; her sister, Lynette McGregor; and her brother-in-law, Kim McGregor.
