Obituary
Roland M. Helgeson, 48, Wahpeton, died Saturday, June 7, 1986, at St. Luke's Hospital, Fargo. The funeral will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at St. John's Catholic Church, Wahpeton, with the Rev. George Mehok officiating.
Visitation will be this afternoon and evening (Tuesday) at Vertin's Wahpeton east chapel. There will also be visitation Wednesday between 9 and 10 a.m. at the funeral home. There will be a Catholic Daughters rosary at 3:30 p.m. and a parish Bible vigil at 8 p.m. today.
Roland Milo Helgeson was born July 15, 1937, at Breckenridge, to Milo and Borghild (Odden) Helgeson. The family lived at Wyndmere until he was 5 when they moved to Wahpeton. He graduated from Wahpeton High School in 1955. He married Trudy Neppl June 25, 1955, at Breckenridge.
They moved to Fargo. He was employed at Peterson Sheet Metal and also took apprenticeschip training at North Dakota State University for two years. In 1972 they moved to rural Wahpeton. He was business agent for Local 114 Sheet Metal Workers International. He also worked for Rick's Electric for seven years. He had been ill for the past two years.
He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church and Wahpeton Eagles.
Surviving are his wife; two sons and two daughters, Steven, Jamie, Mrs. Steve (Lori) Kubela and Mrs. Alan (Melisa) Lunsetter, all wahpeton; his mother, Mrs. Borghild Helgeson, Wahpeton; one brother, Duane, Fargo; eight grandchildren;
He was preceded in death by his father in 1978.
Honorary pallbearers will be Randy, Morris, Tim and Terry Neppl, Gary Dugan, and Ron Wheeler.
Active pallbearers will Veryl Vik, Myron Perkins, Richie Neppl, Kenny Neppl, Glen Hains, Paul LeNoue.
Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton.
