Marie Houle

Marie A. Houle, 78, Wahpeton, ND, died Wednesday, May 12, 2010, at St. Francis Healthcare Campus, Breckenridge , MN . The Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m., Monday, May 17, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Wahpeton. Visitation will be Sunday from 5 PM to 8 PM with a 7 PM prayer service at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery , Wahpeton.
Marie was born May 26, 1931, at Belcourt , ND , the daughter of Joseph and Winifred (Primeau) Dionne. She grew up and attended high school in Belcourt. She worked at William Langer Jewell Bearing Plant in Rolla , ND . She was united in marriage to Louis J. Houle on November 12, 1949 at Belcourt. The couple moved to Wahpeton, ND, in 1958 where Marie worked for Wahpeton Indian School and later for Leach Retirement Home, Wahpeton. Louis passed away September 5, 1995; Marie continued to reside in Wahpeton.
Marie was a member of St. John’s Catholic Church, Wahpeton. She enjoyed crocheting, knitting, crossword puzzles, jigsaw puzzles and camping with her family.
Marie is survived by her five children: Dianna Boesen, Wahpeton; Connie Houle, Wahpeton; Yvonne (Ron) Schaffer, Wahpeton; Annette Houle, Wahpeton; Yvette Houle, Wahpeton, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren, her brother, Art (Cindy) Dionne, her sister, Loretta Wilson, Phoenix, AZ, and many nieces and nephews.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Louis, her daughter, Cindy Kirsch, her sons, Ron and Marcel Houle, and her grandson, Alex.
