Obituary
Adolph Hanson
Adolph Hanson, 85, Fairmount, N.D., died Wednesday, Aug. 24, at St. Francis Hospital, Breckenridge. The funeral will be at 10:30 Saturday at First English Lutheran Church, Fairmount, Rev. Bruce Holstein officiating. Burial will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.
Visitation is this afternoon and evening (Friday) with a prayer service at 7:30 at Vertin's-Wahpeton Funeral Home Chapel and at the church for the hour prior to the service.
Casket bearers will be Leander and Terry Wawers, Allen Engebretson, Robert and Ronald Meyer and Arthur Mahler.
He was born Feb. 27, 1898 to Andrew and Ann (Sweno) Hanson at Effington, S.D. He was raised and attended schools at Effington (now New Effington). He farmed there. He married Irene Gabbert Oct. 21, 1927 at Rosholt, S.D. after marriage they continued to farm in South Dakota. She died in August 1936. He continued to farm in the area until his retirement when he moved to Fairmount in the late 1950s. He worked there as a farm laborer.
He was a member of First English Lutheran Church.
Survivors include a son, Marvin A., Coal Valley, Ill.; a daughter, Mrs. Gil (Delores) Safe, Moline, Ill,; two brothers, Harry, Sisseton, S.D., Harold, Milwaukee, Wis.; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Miller, Browns Valley, Minn., Mrs. Maude Quad, Whittier, Calif.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
