Obituary
Geneva Hanson, 85, Breckenridge, died Monday, Jan. 13, at St. Francis Medical Center, Breckenridge. The funeral service will be Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Breckenridge Lutheran Church with Rev. Eugene Floistad and Rev. Mike Gustafson officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today (Tuesday) and continue through the evening at Joseph Vertin and Sons Funeral Home, Breckenridge, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. There will also be visitation at the church for one hour prior to the service. Geneva Hanson was born April 28, 1900, to Ole and Thea (Borderud) Larson, near Brushvale, Minn. She attended rural school and later Breckenridge High School. After graduation she attended Normal School in Moorhead, later teaching in the Kent area. She married Loyd Hanson March 5, 1927 at Breck-enridge. The couple lived at Janesville, Wis., for three years and then moved to a farm north of Breck-enridge. After several years they moved to Beresford, S.D., where they worked at a Lutheran Church rest home. Later they returned to Breckenridge and in 1958 moved to Story City, Iowa, where they were again employed at a Lutheran rest home. He preceded her in death in 1964. She moved to Moorhead in 1966 and was employed at Joan's North Side Rest Home for almost seven years, then retired and returned to Breck-enridge. She was a member of the Breckenridge Lutheran Church and the Breckenridge Lutheran Church Women. Survivors include three sons, David, Anaheim, Calif.; Marvin, Hawley, Minn.; Norman, Breck-enridge; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by three sisters and four brothers.
