Obituary
Pearl Helen Hohenstern, 88 of Wahpeton, ND passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at her home in Wahpeton. Funeral service will be Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, ND with Rev. Morris W. Stephens, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in the spring at Fairview Cemetery Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. all at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church.
Pearl Helen Bladow was born May 3, 1924 in Hankinson, ND, the daughter of Reinhardt & Martha (Stack) Bladow. She was baptized by Rev. J.P. Klausler on May 29, 1924 and confirmed by Pastor Rev. W. Cordts on June 13, 1937 in St. Johns Belford Lutheran Church, Hankinson, ND. She attended Brandenburg Elementary School and graduated from Hankinson High School in 1941.
On December 3, 1941 she was united in marriage to Elmer Hohenstern at Hankinson. They had two sons: William Elmer & David Donald. After leaving the farm at Mantador & west of Wahpeton they moved into Wahpeton on October 13, 1954. Pearl worked as a dental assistant/ receptionist and chiropractor assistant/receptionist and at the Wahpeton Senior Citizens before retiring on February 1, 1989. Elmer passed away on April 23, 1989.
Pearl was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, member of L.W.M.L., where she held many offices, serving circle, choir and bible classes. She was also a member of the Wahpeton Senior Citizens.
She enjoyed music, fishing, traveling and spent a lot of time volunteering with the elderly people at the retirement & nursing homes. She also enjoyed her family and their children.
She is survived by her sons: William (Georgia), Long Prairie, MN & David (Joanne), Franklin, TN; granddaughters: Shelly (Darrin)Hawley & Christina(Damon) Sonnenberg; grandsons: Greg (Heather), Tim (Kathrin)& Daniel Hohenstern; great grandchildren: Justin, Ryan & Eric Hawley, Zachary Hohenstern, Ella & Caden Hohenstern & Dylan Sonneberg; a sister: LaVerne Loll, Hankinson, ND; brother: Howard Bladow, Wahpeton, ND; sister-in-laws: Margie Bladow, Hankinson, ND, Bev Bladow, Moorhead, MN & Norma Bladow, St. Paul, MN and many nieces & nephews.
She is preceded in death in by her husband: Elmer, parents: R.C. & Martha Bladow, sister: Ruth Reed & brothers: Victor, Elmer & Kenneth
