Obituary
Alvin G. Hepper
Alvin G. Hepper, 57, Breckenridge, died Thursday, Dec. 1, at St. Francis Hospital, Breckenridge, of an apparent heart attack. The funeral will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, Rev. Ernest Bartels officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.
Visitation is this afternoon and evening (Friday) with a prayer service at 8 at Vertin's-Wahpeton East Chapel. There will also be visitation at the church Saturday until the time of the service.
Alvin Glenn Hepper was born June 15, 1926 at McClusky, N.D. to Jacob and Elizabeth (Nurnberg) Hepper. He was raised there and graduated from McClusky High School. He served in the Army overseas. He attended Concordia College, Moorhead. He married Evelyn Singer Dec. 4, 1949 at McClusky. They lived in Fargo where he was employed at Nodak Supply. In 1968 he purchased the Nodak Store in Breckenridge and renamed it Town and Country Supply which he and his wife operated. In 1978 he started and owned a Town and Country Supply Store in Oakes, N.D.
He served as the director of the Richland-Wilkin Alphean Male Chorus and directed several church choirs in Breckenridge and Wahpeton. He was past president of the Breckenridge Chamber of Commerce. He was recognized as Breckenridge's outstanding businessman in 1977 and received the Breckenridge Boss of the Year Award in 1976. Currently, he served as president of the Wheatbelt Merchandising Group. He was past president of the Breckenridge Rotary. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Paul (Elizabeth) Mumm, Wahpeton; Mrs. James (Mary) Engels, Carrington, N.D.; three grandchildren, his mother, Mrs. Elizabeth Hepper, Bismarck; a brother and two sisters, Harold, McClusky; Mrs. Dorrel (Hildegard) Godfrey, Fresno, Calif.; and Mrs. Art (Erma) Brodehl, Goodrich, N.D.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother.
Casket bearers will be Jim Montgomery, Don Voss, Duane Trudell, Don Kranzler, Marlin Borgrud, and Jim Aadlund.
