Obituary

Gordon was born April 28, 1930, at Saskatchewan, Canada, the son of Rudolph and Bernice (Stubson) Hestdalen. As a child he moved with his family to the Abercrombie, ND area. He attended area school and graduated from Breckenridge High School. He attended the Moeller Barber School and barbered initially in Fargo before returning to Breckenridge. Gordon enlisted in the US Air Force in July of 1951 and served during the Korean War, serving in Washington DC and Aleutian Island, being honorably discharged in September of 1955. He married Gloria Krengel in Wahpeton on June 13, 1952, and made their home in the Breckenridge-Wahpeton area. He moved to Chicago where he worked for Sara Lee, Inc. for 20 years as a manufacturing foreman. He married Miriam Stromberg in Webster, Wisconsin in 1980 where they lived for 12 years. In 1992 Gordon moved back to Breckenridge, MN and in 2002 entered Halstad Living Center in Halstad, MN. Miriam passed away in 2004, Gordon continued to live in Halstad.

Gordon always enjoyed visiting with friends and family and had a deep appreciation for his work throughout his life.

Gordon is survived by his two daughters, Shawn (Kevin) Mallory, Cheyenne, Wyoming; Kim (George) Bakewell, Wahpeton; five grandchildren, Mike and Sam Mallory, Peter Pfeiff, Carly Beyer and Kristin Pfeiff; four great-grandchildren, Noah Pfeiff, Carter Pfeiff, Madelyn and Lillian Beyer; two sister, Phyllis Gotland, Colfax,ND and Ardyce Austin, Lake Havasu, AZ.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Miriam; two sisters, Norma Affield and Evelyn Solhjem.
