Dora A. Hill

Dora A. Hill, 63, Otter Tail Lake, Minn., died Saturday, May 15 at her lake home. The funeral will be at 10:30 Tuesday at St. John's Catholic Church, Wahpeton, with Rev. William Mehok and Rev. Charles Meyer officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.

Visitation will be this afternoon and evening (Monday) at Vertin's-Wahpeton East Chapel with a Catholic Daughters rosary at 7:30 followed by a Bible vigil at 8.

Dora A. Thomas was born Aug. 7, 1918 at Dagmar, Mont.; to William and Veronica (Goden) Thomas. She moved to Devils Lake as a child where she was raised and attended school at Flandreau Indian School, Flandreau, S.D. She studied business and secretarial programs at Haskell Institute at Lawrence, Kan. She was a student there two years.

She worked at Belcourt, N.D. Hospital in medical records before her marriage to Solon M. Hill June 9, 1941 at Breckenridge. While her husband served in the Pacific in the Navy during World War II she worked in an aircraft plant in Sacramento, Calif. After the war they moved to Wahpeton where she was employed at the Indian School for 33 years.

She retired in 1973 and they moved to Otter Tail Lake. While at the Indian School she worked as the school's banker and secretary for the plant manager.

While she lived in Wahpeton she was a member of St. John's Church and Catholic Daughters. She was presently a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Ottertail, Minn. She was also a member of the Wahpeton American Legion and VFW auxiliaries.

Casket bearers will be Arthur Azure, Sampson Hill, Wallace Diekman, Ralph Erdich, Farrell Krissler and Stanley Warren.

Survivors include her husband, a son, Jack, Moorhead; three brothers and a sister, Ferdinand Thomas, Chicago; Robiere Thomas, Portland, Ore.; Joseph Thomas, Everett, Wash.; and Mrs. William (Irene) Davis, Belcourt, N.D.

She was preceded in death by a brother.
