Obituary
George L. Holthusen
George L. Holthusen, 85, Wahpeton, died Thursday, Sept. 23 at his home. The funeral will be at 2 Saturday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, Rev. Ernest Bartels officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.
Visitation is today (Friday) throughout the afternoon and evening with a prayer service at 7 and Saturday morning until 11 at Vertin's-Wahpeton Funeral Home Chapel. There will also be visitation at the church for the hour prior to the service.
Casket bearers will be Walter, Duane and Marvin Thimjon, Earl Hauschild, Orville Muehlberg, and Rudolph Schoeneck.
George Holthusen was born June 6, 1897 at DeVillo Township, near Fairmount, to Henry and Adelheid (Mienke) Holthusen. He was raised and attended local schools in Center Township near Wahpeton. He worked for the Northern Pacific Railroad on a section crew. In 1916 he bought a farm with his brother, John, in Summit Township, south of Wahpeton where he farmed until 1965 when he retired and moved to Wahpeton. He has resided there since.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.
