Obituary
Gustav C. Hubrig
Gustav C. Hubrig, 92, Wahpeton, died Thursday, Feb. 25, at St. Francis Hospital, Breckenridge. The funeral will be Monday, March 1, at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, with the Rev. Ernest Bartels officiating.
Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton. Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening at Vertin's-Wahpeton Chapel with a prayer service at 7 p.m. Sunday. There will also be visitation at the church an hour prior to the service.
Gustav Carl Hubrig was born April 12, 1889, at Kleinlase, Schlesien, Germany to Guilin and Christine Becker Hubrig. He came to the United State at age 4 with his parents and settled in Waldo Township near Great Bend. He was raised and attended schools in Waldo Township. He married Anna Medenwaldt July 29, 1915, at Hankinson. They farmed in Waldo Township one year and moved to De Villo Township near Fairmount where they farmed until 1943. They moved to Wahpeton where he was employed by Hoppert's Plumbing and Heating as a plumber. He retired in 1978.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Survivors are four sons and a daughter; Alfred, Fairmount; Earl, One Thousand Palms, Calif.; Ferail, Topeka, Kan.; Sylvan, Fargo; Mrs. Jerome (Lois) McMaster, Spokane, Wash.; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Ida Tischer, Hankinson. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, one brother, two grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Honorary casket bearers will be Merle Hoppers, Glen Hoppers, Melford Vangstad, Don Hinnenkamp, Jerome Meide, Jerry Meide, John Stoltenow, Virgil Ellifson and Duane Norem. Active casket bearers are Marvin Hubrig, Wayne Hubrig, Elroy Stein, Milton Stein, Leonard Tischer, and Dennis Tischer.
