Dorothy Jacobs
February 27, 1923 — March 14, 2016
Dorothy A. Jacobs, 93, Fargo, ND, formerly Wahpeton, ND, passed away March 14, 2016 in Fargo, ND. A Celebration of Life service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 21, 2016 at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, with Rev. Peter Erickson officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton. Arrangements have been entrusted with Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton.
Dorothy was born February 27, 1923, the daughter of Charles and Bertha Peterson in Breckenridge, MN. She attended school in Breckenridge, graduating from Breckenridge High School. She attended NDSSS, enrolling in Accounting. She was united in marriage to Edward Jacobs on January 30, 1943 at the First Baptist Church, Breckenridge, MN. They lived in Breckenridge, later moving to Wahpeton where they raised their four children. Dorothy worked in the Richland County Courthouse for 23 years; she enjoyed her work and especially enjoyed her co-workers. Edward died on August 28, 1997, Dorothy moved with her daughter, Laurie to Fargo, where she has since lived. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church in Breckenridge.
Dorothy is survived by two sons and a daughter: Gary (Sonja) Jacobs, Apple Valley, MN; Charles (Karen) Jacobs, Coon Rapids, MN; Laurie Jacobs, Fargo, ND; eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Bertha, her husband, Edward, her son Robert and six siblings.
