Obituary
David Mathew James, 68
David Mathew James, 68, passed away at 5:15 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 10, 2015 at The Golden Living Center in Hopkins, Minnesota, due to complications.
Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Cemetery, Wahpeton, North Dakota, in the spring of 2016 where he will be laid to rest next to his parents. More information to follow.
David was born Oct. 15, 1946 to George and Juanita James at St. Francis Hospital in Breckenridge, Minnesota. He attended schools in Wahpeton. After graduation, David entered the U.S. Navy and was stationed at El Toro Base in California. His position was working as a dental assistant. Upon returning home from the Navy, he attended the North Dakota State School of Science in Wahpeton and earned an associate's degree as a tool and dye maker.
He married Sharon Jeske of Bloomington, Minnesota, in 1968. David moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, and worked for Rosemount. He returned to Wahpeton in 1986 and worked for RoBanks, where he retired. In late July of 2015, he was hospitalized in Breckenridge and was transferred to Sanford Medical Center in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. David was then admitted into The Golden Living Center in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, for physical therapy. During this time, complications continued and he was admitted into Methodist Hospital, where he never recovered.
David was an avid hunter and fisherman. He loved cats and owned many during his lifetime. He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton and was a past member of the American Legion Club in Wahpeton.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Jeske) James; his daughter, Shawnessy (Scott) Loer, Mound Minnesota; son, Jason, New Prague, Minnesota; sister, Leanna (Gordon) Hudson, Fargo, North Dakota; three nephews, William and Jonathan of Fargo and Christopher (Amanda) Hudson, Burnsville, Minnesota; two grand-nephews and his faithful cat, "Friday."
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Juanita James.
