Daniel Kostuck
May 28, 1953 — August 26, 2015
Daniel Kostuck, 62, Fairmount, ND passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, August 26, 2015. Funeral services will be on Monday, August 31, at 10:30 AM at Willow Creek Chapel, Wahpeton, ND with Rev. Mike Cieniawski officiating. Visitation will be on Sunday from 5 PM to 7 PM with a prayer service at 7 PM at Willow Creek Chapel. There will also be visitation one prior to the service on Monday at the chapel. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton, ND. Arrangements are entrusted to Vertin-Munson Funeral Home, Wahpeton, ND.
Dan was born on May 28, 1953 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to James and Dorothy (Wallner) Kostuck. He grew up in the Milwaukee area until moving to Oklahoma City, OK where graduated from high school. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Navy where he served as a machinist for twenty years.
While he was home on leave in Lisbon, ND he met a school teacher there named Mary Ann Baird. They were united in marriage on June 28, 1980 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Crookston, MN. From that point they started their journey in life traveling throughout the world with the US Navy. After Dan retired from the Navy in 1993, his family moved to Fairmount, ND. Over the years Dan worked for various companies around the area including: D&E Machining, Cargill, Imation, and WCCO Belting. During these jobs he also took time to go back to school at NDSCS and earned two associate degrees in Automated Manufacturing and Machine Tooling. He retired in 2011 from WCCO Belting.
Dan was a man who loved building and working with his hands which also included building his faith. He spent many weekends at the lake fishing and spending time with his family. His grandchildren spent a lot of time "grandpa sitting" with him and he shared a deep interest with them for model trains.
Dan will be deeply missed by his wife, Mary Ann Kostuck, Fairmount, ND; his children, Jennifer (Mike) Dotzenrod, Wahpeton, ND, Peter Kostuck, Wahpeton, ND, Jessica Kostuck, Breckenridge, MN, Christopher Kostuck, Fargo, ND, Jodi-Lynn Kostuck, Wahpeton, ND; his grandchildren, Cheyenne, Lee, Carter, Chase, and Audrey; his mother, Dorothy Kostuck, Lisbon, ND; his siblings, David Kostuck, Anoka, MN, Dale (Linda) Kostuck, Holly Ridge, NC, Dennis (Elevit) Kostuck, Lisbon, ND, Doug Kostuck, Bismarck, ND, Karen (Terry) Anderson, Fort Ransom, ND, Dean (Kim) Kostuck, Mayville, ND, Kathy (Tom) Twait, Eau Claire, WI, Don (Donna) Kostuck, Dallas, TX; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, James Kostuck.
