Louis R. Krengel

Louis R. Krengel, 85, Wahpeton, died Thursday, Nov. 10, at his home. The funeral was today (Monday) at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, Rev. Ernest Bartels officiating. Burial was at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.

Casket bearers were Elmer Affield, Alvin Ambach, Walter Ludwig, Clarence Miller, Robert Deede and Elmer Hohenstern.

He was born April 3, 1898 to Henry and Minnie (Strutzenberg) Krengel at Chicago. He moved with his parents to Ford Dodge, Iowa, when he was four. He was raised there and attended school. He later moved to Callaway, Minn., where he farmed with his father. He married Anna Ueke May 8, 1923 at Detroit Lakes, Minn. They lived at Callaway where they farmed and later lived at Gradin, N.D., where he operated a dray line for 10 years before moving to Hillsboro. In 1942 he joined the Aid Association for Lutherans as district representative at Hillsboro. They moved to Wahpeton in 1946 where he continued as a district representative. He retired and continued to live in Wahpeton.

He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife, four daughters, Mrs. Vic (Millie) Zimmerman, Mrs. Orton (Adele) Hestdalen, and Mrs. Donald (Gloria) Bezenek, all of Battle Lake, Minn.; Mrs. William (Joyce) Howlett, London; eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, three sisters, and four brothers.
