Obituary
Leander A. Lelm
Leander A. Lelm, 68, Wahpeton, died Monday, Dec. 27 at Wahpeton. The funeral will be Friday at 10:30 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, Rev. Ernest Bartels officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening at Vertin's-Wahpeton Funeral Home Chapel with a prayer service at 7:30. There will also be visitation at the church for the hour prior to the service.
Leander Arthur Lelm was born June 28, 1914 at Turtle Lake, N.D. to Albert and Hedwig (Krause) Lelm. He was raised in the Mantador-Wyndmere area. He had served with the Civilian Conservation Corps in Utah. He married Hilma Wittkopp Sept. 17, 1940. They lived in Wahpeton where he was employed by several construction firms. She died May 13, 1982.
He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church and the Wahpeton Senior Citizens.
Survivors include a daughter and two sons, Mrs. Robert (Karen) Freeman, Fridley, Minn.; Lowell (Butch) Lelm, Minneapolis; Kevin, Dundas, Minn.; his mother, Mrs. Hattie Lelm, Wahpeton; six sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Raymond (Lila) Boecker, and Mrs. Zarryl (Lola) Batesole, both Alexandria, Minn.; Mrs. Norman (Lametta) Kvamme, Ruso, N.D.; Mrs. Donald (Verona) Roberts, Plainfield, Ind.; Mrs. MIlton (Orlean) Hambalek, Doraville, Ga.; Mrs. Lloyd (Juliette) Barrus, Ashland, Ore.; Reuben, Venturia, N.D.; and Allen, Kernville, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his father, and a brother.
