Obituary
Darrell was born September 25, 1946, to Lester S. and Evelyn (Westensee) Larson at McVille, ND. He graduated from McVille High School where he participated in basketball, baseball and football. He attended Valley City College and entered the US Army in 1966. He was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas, where he played in the Army Band. He was honorably discharged in 1968 and obtained his bachelor degree in Agricultural Economics in 1971 from NDSU. He worked for J.I. Case Company for five years, and bought into Meyer-Jones Farm Store in Wahpeton in 1976. In 1977, Darrell, along with partners Dale Jones and Dave Meyer, built Meyer-Jones Farm Store in Lisbon, ND. Darrell and Dave Meyer purchased Dale's share of the partnership in 1980, and changed the name of the dealerships to Ransom-Richland County Implement, Inc. Darrell married Colleen O'Leary on September 18, 1982 at Beardsley, MN. The couple resided in Wahpeton. In 1985, Darrell purchased Richland County Implement in Wahpeton.
He was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church, the American Legion, Elks, served on the North American Dealer Council for Ford New Holland, and had served on the Wahpeton Chamber of Commerce Ag Committee. He had excelled at slow pitch softball and played for the old Chuck's Off Sale Softball Team which qualified for several regional tournaments during the 70's. He continued to sponsor softball teams and other athletic teams in the area. He was an avid follower of NDSU sports and was a member of NDSU Team Makers. He enjoyed traveling and especially enjoyed spending time at Pelican Lake with his family and friends.
Darrell is survived by his two children; Kaja Larson, Fargo, ND; and Connor Larson, Wahpeton; five brothers and sisters; LuWanna (Wally) Raftevold, Remer, MN; Dale Larson, Roland, Iowa; Dalton (Maren) Larson, Woodbury, MN; Dennis (Kelly) Larson, Park River, ND; Laurie (Mike) Fosse, Lakeville, MN; and numerous uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Evelyn, and an infant brother.
