Louis E. Leshovsky, 84, Wahpeton resident
A memorial service for Louis E. Leshovsky, 84, Wahpeton, will be today (Tuesday), May 28, 1996, at 2 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church with Rev. Robert Pfau officiating. Military rites will be conducted by Hafner-Miller-Ross-American Legion Post No. 20, Wahpeton.
He died Saturday, May 25, 1996, at Dakota Hospital, Fargo, N.D. Arrangements are with Vertin-Munson Wahpeton Funeral Home.
Louis E. Leshovsky was born June 2, 1911, in DeVillo Township, the Henry and Nancy (Horsman) Leshovsky, near Fairmount, N.D. He grew up near Tyler, N.D., and attended rural schools at Center #4. He helped with the family farm, and served in the U.S. Army from April, 1942, to October, 1945. He served in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes, and Central Europe battles and campaigns. After the service he returned to Richland County and married Lorraine Hoffman on September 22, 1947, at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton. The couple farmed and raised their family on the Leshovsky home farm southwest of Wahpeton. In 1975 he retired from farming and in 1985 they moved to Wahpeton. He enjoyed gardening, and continued to be an avid hunter, fisherman, and trapper, staying active until this past fall. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton American Legion, and loved to spend time with his grandchildren. He was known to enjoy pulling pranks and having fun with family and friends.
He is survived by: his wife of 49 years, Lorraine, Wahpeton; two sons, Clarence (Idella) Leshovsky, and their children, Dan and Holly, all of Minot, N.D., Larry (Linda) Leshovsky, and their children, Jason and Jamie, all of Wahpeton; Linda (Butch) Treichler, Mesa, Ariz., and her son, Kelly Waasdorp, and her step-children, Jeremy and Jennifer Treichler; one brother, Robert (Lillian) Leshovsky, Breckenridge, Minn.; three sisters, Edith Thimjon, Breckenridge, Doris Olson, Wahpeton, and Elsie Pauly, Costa Mesa, Calif.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Nancy Leshovsky; two grandchildren, Kristi Leshovsky and Shannon Waasdorp; two brothers, Ervin and Alvin; and a sister, Eva Romerein.
