Obituary
Natalie Ann Nankivel was born August 23, 1931, at Mayville, ND to Robert O. and Josie (Hanson) Pederson. She received her formal education at Mayville graduating from Mayville High School in 1949. She graduated from Mayville State University in 1951 with a Standard Degree in elementary education. She taught school at Crystal, ND. On April 24, 1952, she married Gerald G. Nankivel at Crystal, by Rev. D. W. Nankivel. She continued to teach at Crystal until 1953 when they moved to Linton, ND where she taught from 1958 until 1959. In 1963 she started teaching at Wyndmere, ND where she continued until her retirement in 1989. She had received her Bachelor of Science degree from Mayville State University in Elementary Education with a minor in Library Science. She had taken further education at Moorhead State University - MN and St. Cloud State University - MN with a minor in media specialist. Her husband, Gerald died May 19, 1987, and in 1990 she moved to Wahpeton, ND, where she has resided since.
Natalie was a member of Evergreen United Methodist Church; was a longtime member of the Christmas Kids project at the church; sang in a trio "Harmonettes" for many years for many activities throughout the state. She enjoyed reading, gardening, and raising roses.
She is survived by her 3 sons, Allen (Jeanine) Nankivel, Bagley, MN, Mark (Carol) Nankivel, Inver Grove Heights, MN, Jerry (Sonya) Nankivel, Wahpeton; 5 grandchildren, Charlie and Nora, Inver Grove Heights, Matt, Minneapolis, MN, Nick, Bismarck, ND, Tiffany, Grand Forks, ND; 9 brothers and sisters, Alma Wayne, Corona, California, Ordell Pederson, Hallock, MN, Curtis (Val) Peterson, Fargo, ND, Beverly (Bob) Nees, Miles City, MT, Janice (Elroy) Lindaas, Mayville, ND, Arthur (Karolyn) Pederson, Mora, MN, Leroy (Clementina) Pederson, Brownsville, TX, Clark (Mieko) Pederson, Tokyo, Japan, Ida Mae (Craig) Rypkema, Bemidji, MN; many nieces and nephews; and 1 brother-in-law, Dick (Paulette) Nankivel, Rapid City, SD.
Natalie was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Gerald.
