Obituary

Randi Olsen

Mrs. P.C. (Randi) Olsen, age unknown, Wahpeton, died Tuesday, Jan. 19 at the Wahpeton Health Care Center. The funeral will be at 11:15 Monday at Vertin's-Wahpeton Funeral Home Chapel, Rev. Stephen Hanning officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Wahpeton.

Visitation will be Sunday afternoon and evening and Monday until the time of the service at the chapel. There will be a prayer service at 8 p.m. Sunday at the chapel.

Randi Arntzen was born in Milnor Township to Neils and Anna (Ingebretsen) Arntzen. She was the first Caucasian daughter born in that area. She moved with her family as a child to the Forman-Rutland area where she was raised. She attended school there. She taught rural schools in that area before her marriage to Peter C. Olsen. After marriage the couple lived in Jamestown before moving to Wahpeton in 1909.

She was active in many civic organizations and many referred to her as Mrs. Wahpeton. She was president of the Wahpeton Literary Club, and the Rebekah Lodge. She was active in the formation of the Wahpeton Library now known as the Leach Public Library. She served as the Wahpeton Welcome Lady for over 20 years. She was a member of the United Church of Christ (Congregational).

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Isabelle Thompson; Moorhead, Minn. and St. Petersburg, Fla.; two sisters, Mrs. Martin (Mattie) Voves, Leach Home, Wahpeton; Mrs. Robert (Ina) Phillips, Gravette, Ark.; a grandson, and two great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, six brothers and sisters.
