Obituary
Dennis Gordon Olson was born June 11, 1941, at Breckenridge, MN to Clyde and Ethel (Thimjon) Olson. For most of his childhood he lived with his grandparents, Emil and Clara Olson in Dwight. He graduated from Wahpeton High School in May of 1959 and attended NDSCS in Wahpeton for a year studying printing. In August of 1960 he entered the US Navy and served honorably for 4 years. He married Sharon Brown, his life long love, companion, and friend on October 29, 1960 at Sisseton, ND.
Dennis was a member of the Hafner-Miller-Ross American Legion Post No.20, Wahpeton and a member of the Breckenridge United Methodist Church.
He loved and cherished his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved fishing, hunting, and craftwork. He was, also, a very active Richland #44 Colt fan, and the highlight of his life was when his grandson, Jessie, was on the undefeated 2005 Richland Colts 9-man ND State Championship football team.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Sharon, Breckenridge; his daughter, Denise (Jonathan) Malingen, Wahpeton; 6 grandchildren, Jessie Hendrickson, Fargo, ND, Cody Hendrickson, Wahpeton, Josh Malingen, Sabin, MN, Areca Malingen, Wahpeton, Jordan Malingen, Wahpeton; 1 great-grandson, Chase Johnson, Sabin, MN; 2 brothers, Roger Olson, Glendive, MT, Bruce (Gayle) Olson, Breckenridge; 1 sister, Carol (Lynn) Nelson, Fairmount, ND; special cousins, Gary Hollands, Dwight, ND, Pastor Sandy Hollands, Fergus Falls, MN, Judi Mikkelson, Breckenridge; and several nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews, cousins, and sisters- and brothers-in-law.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Doug Olson.
