Dorothy J. Olson, 69, Wahpeton resident

Dorothy J. Olson, 69, Wahpeton, N.D., died Thursday, Feb. 13, 1997, at the St. Francis Medical Center, Breckenridge, Minn.

The funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 17, at the United Church of Christ-Congregational, with Rev. Sandra Hollands officiating. Interment will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. - 8p.m. Sunday, with an 8 p.m. prayer service, at the Frank Family Funeral Home, Wahpeton. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Dorothy J. Olson was born on Feb. 4, 1928, in Hankinson, N.D., to Lynus James and Laura (John) Grady. She attended school at Hankinson, and graduated from Fairmount High School in 1947. She then worked at Cudhay's in Fairmount. On March 28, 1948, she was united in marriage to James Olson at Tintah, Minn. Following their marriage they lived in Campbell, Minn., and she then worked for the Village Market. In 1957, they moved to Breckenridge and she worked for St. Francis Hospital for 34 years. They moved to Wahpeton in 1961, where they had since resided.

While working at St. Francis Hospital she was named Employee of the Year in 1989. She retired in 1991. Her hobbies were helping people, church and gardening.

She is survived by her husband, James Olson, Wahpeton; one son, Jerome and wife, Cynthia, Olson, Minneapolis, Minn.; one daughter, Shawn and husband, Jerry Spellerberg, Lidgerwood; her mother, Laura Grady, Wahpeton; one brother, Lynus Grady Jr., Columbus Heights, Minn.; four sisters, Lylan Thimjon, Wahpeton, Shirley (Howard) Strand, Ogden, Utah, Catherine Ford, Littleton, Colo., and Patricia (Jack) Stephens, Ogden; six grandchildren, Todd and Ryan Spellerberg, and Joshua, Elizabeth, Patricia and Jordan Olson.

She was preceded in death by her father, Lynus Grady.
