Obituary
Mamie A. Olsen
Mamie A. Olsen, 85, Wahpeton, died Sunday, Jan. 31 at St. Francis Hospital, Breckenridge. The funeral will be at 1 Wednesday at Bethel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, Rev. Marvin L. Hartmann officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Visitation will be this afternoon and evening (Tuesday) at Vertin's-Wahpeton Funeral Home Chapel, and at the church for the hour prior to the service.
Casket bearers will be Michael, Steve, Edward, Thomas and Robert Kloster, and William Sturma.
Mamie A. Barsten was born Sept. 13, 1896 at Presho, S.D., to Anton and Randi (Olsen) Barsten. She moved with her parents to Fullerton, N.D., where she was raised. She married Andrew Olsen Feb. 6, 1920 at Fullerton. They moved to Wahpeton in 1926. He worked for the Great Northern Railroad roundhouse in Breckenridge. He died Jan. 30, 1976. She continued to live in Wahpeton, more recently at the Wahpeton Retirement Center.
She was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church where she was a charter member of the Dorcas Society. She was also a member of a church circle.
Survivors include a daughter and two sons, Mrs. Ernest (Miriam) Kloster, Breckenridge, Gary and Lauris, both of Denver; 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; a sister and three brothers, Mrs. Wayne (Inga) Wentzel, Franktown, Colo., John Barsten, Tucson, Ariz., Emil, Oakes, N.D., and Oswald, LaMoure, N.D.
She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
