Marjorie Ann (Flados) Pankow, 85 of Wahpeton, ND passed away Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at St. Catherines Living Center, Wahpeton, ND. Funeral service will be Monday, April 13, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton, ND with burial at Fairview Memorial Gardens, Wahpeton. Visitation will be Sunday, April 12, 2015 from 3-5 p.m. with a prayer service at 5:00 p.m. all at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Wahpeton. There will also be visitation one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday.

Marjorie was born on the family farm near Havana, ND on May 3, 1929 to Morgan and Alma (Sjothun) Flados. She attended the rural school and was proud of the fact she was the rope jumping champion of Ransom Township #4 as well as the State Spelling Bee Champion. She graduated from Havana High School as Salutatorian at the age of 16. Following her college education she took her first teaching job in Buffalo, ND. On June 6, 1948 she married her husband of almost 67 years Arnold A. Pankow. She continued to teach at The Indian School in Wahpeton, ND, retiring in 1955 to raise their family.

During her lifetime she had multiple interests and talents. She was an excellent seamstress, sang at many events, a Girl Scout Council Chairman and a Cub Scout Den Mother. She also served as secretary/treasurer for Fairview Cemetery Association for 25 years. Her main love was still teaching so she taught Sunday School, weekday religious classes, and summer Bible school for over 25 years at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Wahpeton. Marjorie passed away April 7, 2015 following a devastating fall, under the wonderful care of St. Catherines and CHI Home and Health Services (formerly Riveredge Hospice). She will be remembered for her giving nature, always willing to help someone, and as a wife, mother, Gramma, and Gramma-Great.

She is survived by her husband Arnold Pankow, daughters Patty Wanner, Mesa, AZ; Ronda (Weldon) Hoesel, Lidgerwood, ND; Dawn (Kevin Loll) Pankow, Wahpeton, ND; one son Kevin (Naomi) Pankow, Cando, ND; Son-in-Law Scott Mitzel, Aurora, IL; two sisters Doris (Carl) Olsen, Rosholt, SD; Kathleen Thomas, Battle Lake, MN. Her grandchildren: Christopher (Melissa) Wanner, Caren (Jerimy) Stanley, JuliAnna (Craig) Mauch, Jeret (Stephanie) Hoesel, Meagan (Charlie) Sinks, Nick Pankow (Special Friend Julie), Brandon Pankow, William Pankow (Special Friend Sierra), Brittany (Chad) Warren, Brandon (Marissa) Loll, Justin Loll, Tyler Loll, Lucas (Kristen) Mitzel, Logan Mitzel, and many great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Sophie Mitzel, her parents Morgan and Alma Flados, two sisters Betty Elphinstone, and Lois Case.

She will be greatly missed by all who loved her and those who called her friend.
